The Best JavaScript Book Ever
That's the best JS book I've seen & and I've seen a lot of them!
Keep Tina writing! -Jamie, Purdue University
Highly Recommended!
This book is extremely well organized and can be used as a reference and a text book for a college-level course. The many clear examples and exercises at the end of each chapter make learning Javascript a breeze. I also enjoyed the writing style and appreciated the enclosed CD. Highly recommended! - Scott Kelman, San Diego, CA
A JavaScript Book You Can Sit and Read
Your book seems “down to earth” – other Javascript books I have - that I have hesitated to read or even use as reference – are from some other planet it seems. Your book is the only one I can just sit and read and get that “itch” to either pull out my laptop or go into the office and get on my desktop and “try it out”. Not many books give me that “itch” … thanks! -Deb Waters, Sacramento, CA
Great Depth & Comprehensive List of Topics
Lane Community College in Oregon has adopted Tina's JavaScript Concepts
and Techniques text for our CS133J (JavaScript) class. The text proved
to be an excellent choice with great assignments and a comprehensive list
of topics. The book had great depth and each chapter builds on the previous
one in a very systematic manner. McDuffie provides instructors with a
"Presentations" folder containing examples to demonstrate in
class. The solutions and text banks are excellent. -Jerry Ross, Lane

Relaxed Informal Style
She has a relaxed informal style yet gets down and dirty with the code,
too so that is a good combination. There is also a good mix of general
discussion, example scripts, and dissection of them. Cudos to the author!

Very Good Textbook for Both Teachers and Students
This text does a very good job of being a classroom textbook oriented
enough to satisfy the teachers and trade book industry oriented enough
to satisfy students. It was a pleasure to review and I must admit I learned
several things that I can file away for later. -Reviewer B
Meaningful Examples Are Very Motivating for Students
I really like the way the author chose mostly meaningful examples that
very clearly show the reader that JavaScript has a very close relationship
to the browser and that this can be easily exploited to the advantage
of the Web developer. This is very motivating for students most of whom
are interested in quickly acquiring the skills to improve their Web page
creation capabilities. -Reviewer B
Excellent Chapter Exercises & Well Thought Out Activities
I thought that the chapter exercises were excellent. It would give me
as an instructor a lot of choices and good ideas for assignments or even
in-class exercises. Well thought out activities with valuable results
for students, not just meaningless menta masturbation as found in other
texts where the exercises are obviously an afterthought. -Reviewer

Conversational with "Real World" Insights
I like the conversational tone. The Peek Ahead sections give students
ideas regarding differing implementations of fundamental concepts. Line
numbering the code makes it much easier to reference in class. The conventions
used are clear. Programmer's Tips seem to be good "real world"
insights. Creating a library is a great way for students to implement
reusable code. -Reviewer C
Most Robust JavaScript Book... Includes Regular Expressions
With the inclusion of regular expressions, DOM Level 2, reusable code,
as well as the number and quality of exercises and projects, I believe
your book is by far the most robust. Nothing else that I am aware of compares
for the college market. -Reviewer C
Good Textbook and Reference Both
I think she does a good job of balancing the book so it can be used as
a textbook and will also be used as a reference book. This is a difficult
task to do. -Reviewer A
